About Us
Chair's Message
Welcome to Native American Studies!
On behalf of the faculty and staff in Native American Studies (NAS), we are excited to welcome you to our community. We are growing and transitioning. We have moved to the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of New Mexico, and we are expanding our degree program where we now offer a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree, an Accelerated Online BA degree option, and a Master of Arts degree. Our mission is to honor Indigenous experiences and the strengthening of Native Nations and sustainable communities through academic excellence. Our courses and opportunities for students are aligned with this mission and our goal to make significant contributions to Native communities in collaboration and relationship with those communities.
